Founded in 2025 and currently fiscally sponsored by Onward Foundation, ZU Arts Initiative operates programs including: the Musicians Mutual Aid Fund (providing $200/month pensions to seasoned artists), Individual Artist Grants ($500-$2,000 no-strings-attached support), Young Emerging Artists (YEA!) youth programming, Free Community Programming, and The Failure Fund (supporting beautiful experiments).
Our work builds on the proven track record of ZU Gallery, which has hosted 700+ events since September 2021 with 95% free to the public while maintaining fair compensation for all performing artists. We believe culture isn't a luxury—it's infrastructure. It's what makes us human.
